The Midwest is such a beautiful place to be in the fall. The colorful trees, the bright pumpkins and delicious apples all make for picture-perfect scenery! Why not use these natural resources to our advantage? By searching “Fall DIY Home Décor Ideas” I’ve come across multiple inspirational ideas for creating decorations for around the house using the materials Mother Nature gave us. To start any of these projects all you need to do is go for a nature walk!

Window Leaf Display

When you think fall of course you think leaves. Doityourself.com shares a unique decorating idea using this simple resource.

Check out garage and yard sales for an old window in a wooden frame; preferable one that has several small panes. Collect autumn leaves from your yard or the park. Press them and when they have dried, spray them with a coating of sealer. When dry, spray on adhesive and fasten them to the windowpanes. To give the display a unique look, coat with crackle spray to give the impression of frost. This beautiful window makes a wonderful fall display that will last for years.

Better Homes and Garden has many great suggestions for fall décor, including a few ways to display corn around the house. Try this idea to give your house a festive feel.

Tie a grouping of Indian corn ears together and hang from a cabinet door. Display jars filled with dried corn and seeds behind glass-front cabinet doors.

Pumpkins on Display

Another great tip from Better Homes and Garden features an original way to showcase pumpkins. Instead of the traditional way of putting your pumpkins on your front step, why not use them inside your house for a pop of color!

Add petite pumpkins to an existing display to dress it up for fall. Plain pumpkins work well, but if you want to add some extra flair, paint designs on the pumpkins in colors that match your decor.
